Jack Richeson 38008 Yarka Student Semi Moist Watercolor, Set of 8

This is my go to doodling set of watercolors because they are intense, bright colors and they are very inexpensive. I am afraid I never tried the brush that came with the set, it was much too tiny to be of interest to me, so I can't say how it is but the paints themselves are magnificent. They mix easily, are strongly pigmented and lay down smoothly. The case is somewhat flimsy, as others have noted, I hold mine together with a rubber band these days, but I like the set enough that I bought another one because I was running out of yellow. That is actually the main complaint that I have about these, that I can't replace colors individually. The two accompanying pics done in these paints are done in a Field Artist 4 x 6 1/2 watercolor book using a Koi waterbrush.

I love this particular watercolor set. I’m no artist, I use them to apply color washes over little sketches I draw in my hobonichi planner.I don’t have enough experience to compare them to other sets, but I like this set very much.

I purchased this student watercolor set for my five year old niece. I am teaching her watercoloring and she is interested enough that I want her to have her own set of real watercolors. She was delighted when i have her the set and painted right away. The pans of color are much larger than most sets on the market. The colors are beautiful and mix well. I would recommend these to anyone who is starting out in watercolor

Not love but liked the pans of paint (especially the creamy deep colors & size of pans). Hate the plastic holder. It was shattered when it arrived and went from bad to unusable. However if you move the paint to a different container that protects the paint it’s a great deal.

I have this pallet of Yarka paints from as a art student twenty + years ago. I saw that I could buy it here on Amazon and I wanted to buy one again.It has wonderfully pigmented colors, albeit limited in number. But if a true artist, one should be able to paint with a few colors, yes? The pans are generous in size -about 2 cm x 2 cm. They are semi-moist pans. The colors are: black, purple, blue, green, brown, red, orange, & yellow. The brush that is included is a bit messy. It drops hairs in the pan and spralls on the paper. The plastic tray is somewhat delicate. So keep that in mind when you travel with it.I would definitely buy again. Good for urban sketching, good for adults, excellent for pigmented paintings. Have fun with it!
