Hooyman Ratchet Pruner w/Detachable hand saw

These pruners allow me to cut through branches of over half an inch in diameter without much effort, thanks to the ratcheting mechanism. The pruners feel very solid and are all metal construction (except for the plastic safety clip, which hasn't broken so far, but does feel like the weakest link; wish that was metal as well). They have the added benefit of fitting inside the belt holster for the 5 1/2' telescoping saw, along with the saw itself, which makes for a nice, compact, complete pruning solution that you can have on your belt at all times. Very happy with my purchase.

Bought it to use for a spring bear hunt. The handle detaches so you can use the embedded mini saw separately. The problem is every time I went to grab it the handle was separated from the rest so I had to hunt for it. The ratchet feature on only seemed to work about 50% of the time. I had to manipulate the mechanism each time to make to catch to work. I ended up using my old regular pruners most of the time.

Ratchet doesn’t work on small branches, doesn’t open wide enough, feels cheap and loose. Don’t expect them to last that long. Biggest waste of money I’ve spent in a while. Go get some normal pruners from your local hardware store.

These are the best ever. Not only do they cut through tough branches but the saw blade that is within the handle is great. Cuts down on carrying two separate items which could rattle and blow the shot.

Cut 2 limbs and the ratchet assembly came apart.
