Hongdian Forest Fountain Pen, Beautiful Sky Blue Tree Texture Medium Nib Writing Office Pen

I got this on impulse! It's completely black, including the nib! All my pens in the past have light colored nibs. I'm crazy and don't like to see any traces of ink on the shiny nib. It just drives me nuts. So when I saw this, it's a dream come true! I can get all sort of ink on the nib and I won't be able to tell!Pros1. It's completely black! What more do you need!2. The logo on the body isn't flashy. Again being completely black has advantages.3. Pen feels hefty in hand when not in use. My best comparison right now is the Hero 9296, it's heavier and bigger to the Hero. Other may not like it with the cap on during use, the cap add significant weight the pen.3. Nib is smooth, glides across cheap copy paper without scratching. I washed it at night and put some Sailor Kiwaguro in it the next day and it was ready to go.4. Great value. For $15, even if I don't like this, skip a few coffees, that's it.Con1. The pistol converter feels very flimsy. The one I received seemed to have scratches on the clear plastic. It works, but be careful not to when holding.I really like it! I haven't own this long enough to comment on the paint but I got this for the black nib, I don't mind the paints every where else.

I love the beautiful blue nib most of all. I love how heavy it is, even though I can't write with the cap connected to the end because of my arthritis. Without the extra weight, it is easy and comfortable to hold. The ink flows wonderfully without skipping or puddling. Highly recommend!

I bought two pens the same day on Amazon. Plenty of choice for all budgets. And I picked this Hongdian as well as a Jinhao 95. This pen is well built, all metal parts with the exception of the converter, it feels a little heavy but nothing that would prevent anyone from having fun writing with it. It is easy to hold, though, for me, a bit too tiny on the nib section. It holds well in the hand. The writing experience is excellent. At first, the nib was a little scratchy on the paper, but I let the pen go back and forth by pressing gently on the paper for about 50 times and that was it, the nib now glides on paper really well. Of course, nothing to compare with a high-end nib, but you are getting 75% of the functionality at a fraction of the price. I's OK that the paper responds a little to the nib too. The nib is not stiff which is an issue with most Asean pen that require much precision when writing. It is a bit flexible so it responds to pressure a little. The pen color is wonderful and the nib matches the pen color. I was a bit worried of the paint on metal that would be fragile, but not with this guy, it's strong and won't scratch easily. I bring this pen at work and it is professional, not your average pen and yet modest so fits everywhere. Overall, a great buy and I am thinking about buying another one with a different color.

I bought this on a whim. I bought the fude nib version. I consider myself a relatively experienced fountain pen user, and; had been wanting to try a fude nib for some time. I thought that if I didn't like it, given it's price; no great loss. But, I was very pleasantly surprised. The pen appears to be well made. The cap clicks shut with an unusual but satisfying click. Packaging was somewhat crude, but; it came with a convertor and a velvet slip case with drawstring top. The pen itself is probably a bit on the heavier side when compared to your run of the mill entry level pens. But, it's not overly so. The fude nib gives a very large line variation according to how you orient the nib to the paper. Paper quality and the ink you choose will become more important than usual. If you want to try a fude nib, this is well worth the minimal risk. If you are new to fountain pens I would suggest going with a conventional nib, first. I think this pen is sold with those type of nibs as well. A very nice pen for less than $20.

I’m new to the fountain pen game but this is a lovely sturdy affordable pen. It takes universal cartridges and the nib is smooth on paper. I’ve had no issues with leaking and I write with it everyday. The weight is good and the colours these pens come in are lovely I’m definitely gonna get another one.

The media could not be loaded.  I already was gifted the HongDian Forest 1851 Rainbow fountain pen and absolutely love it. My first fountain pen! I liked it so much I wanted the forest blue 1851 HongDian the Light of Hope in a fine nib. Portable, and comfortable to hold. I have small hands and the weight is good for my small hands posted. (I prefer non posted though) The texture on the barrel makes it easy to grip the pen. Writes smooth. Ive used Hongdian cartridges and Pilot's iroshizuku inks and very smooth writing. HongDian has a great reputation among fountain pen enthusiasts. The rainbow pen also has the Light of Hope on it.

My pen took a very long time to arrive, and I don't know about anyone else but it came in a plastic white package, and was wrapped by itself in plastic/bubble wrap with only the felt/"silk" bag case and the pen itself. (side note I ordered the green pen thinking it'd be brighter colored like in the pictures and some of the review photos i saw; It was not, its a bit of a dirty green)There is also no ink cartridges at all with the package so you have to pay $15+ and *then* buy more inks. I've seen these pens come in a box so I don't know if this was a reseller or something happened but I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with it. It feels and looks very well made and I could get ink a different way but I was thinking I'd get ink with yknow, my pen I ordered specifically for drawing with specific inks after waiting 2+ weeks for it to arrive.

Love the weight of this instrument. Nice flow, no leaks. The color is super cool! If you’re picky about what you write with, I highly recommend this pen. Great value for the money

Ink cartridges will not fit this pen, so you have to use the ink converter and buy a bottle of ink. But it's easy enough to fill the ink converter. Just wear gloves.

Es una pluma de cuerpo metálico de la marca HongDian. En vivo se ve muy, muy bonita, parece una pluma costosa, y me sorprendió la calidad de los acabados y el peso. Tiene un cartucho muy fácil de usar para que le pongas la tinta de tu elección, lo que es muy conveniente, no tienes que gastar en cartuchos desechables ni comprar otro adaptador.Sin embargo, tuve problemas en un inicio, pues la sentía muy "scratchy" o rasposa. Le hice un tratamiento conocido como pulido con bolsa de papel, la lave a conciencia después de ello y le cambie la tinta por una Waterman, que es muy fluida y bastante noble (la usé primero con una J.Herbin, pero no empataron bien al parecer). No se qué de lo que hice funciono, pero finalmente se siente muy bien, ya no se brinca, y escribe más suave. La verdad es que si vale la pena esta pluma para la batalla diaria, por lo que cuesta es una ganga.Por cierto, no le hagan cosas raras a la pluma, mas que sepan que están haciendo. Pueden estropear la punta en un santiamén. Si la sienten rasposa o seca, primero pruébenla y úsenla por un tiempo razonable, de preferencia en papel de calidad aceptable; usualmente todo lo que necesita es el uso cotidiano para que se asiente la punta.

Se siente de buena calidad, no pesa, facilidad para el trazo y el plus de el cartucho para recarga.

This is my second Forest series, the first being the matte black. These pens are great, you won't get a better value for your money with other options.The barrel is completely metal, and had a heaviness that makes the pen feel more expensive than it is. Seriously the build of this pen is great!It's slim and sheer in appreance, and fits in my hands well, bigger pens sometimes cause strain when I'm writing so this is wonderful. Very comfortable!Came with a piston converter and a carrying case, which only makes the value better.And the colors is gorgeous, the nib is even blue.
