Great film let down by Amazon
The one star is for the Extremely poor Image quality when I watched it on Amazon. It was as bad as VHS.I tried this on a Sony 4K smart TV and On my PC and the image quality was just dreadful. It looked like 480, 360 in places. I switched off after less than 5 mins. If you really want to watch Willow, buy it on Blu ray. Had I known it was going to be this bad. I'd have never paid for it. But I'll give Amazon Credit for one thing, they did refund me in full.

When you get drunk you forget zat I AM IN CHARGE!!
Just love this film. Every generation should see this. The quality of the effects, the acting, the cast (they hired pretty much every single little person in the country for this), the comedy, the action, the sentiment (mother issues anyone?). I've always thought Warwick Davis was quite old, but then watching this, you realise he just started working when he was really really young! He does a good job of carrying the film - not great at the start but you can see him improving. Val Kilmer tones down his usual annoying self. The "French" pixies as the comedy double-act are very good, but really, it's Willow's film; well done Warwick!

This was a pleasant view with some nice down under (NZ) scenery
This was a pleasant view with some nice down under (NZ) scenery, but I am glad we watched it first as it was a little dark in places for 5 & 7 year olds. There was a surreal moment when Val Kilmer made a derogatory aside re how he felt about Joanne Whalley, at which point I laughed and said "You dont know what's coming mate", to my partner, she replied "I thought this was the film that kindled their short lived romance". How ironic, see if you can spot the moment. This has little in the way of CGI special effects and uses Animatronics, dont ask, I read it in the credits. Nice to sit and watch with older children, but view it yourself first to judge. The sound was excellent and the acting OK for a film of this genre. I thought Willow was the baby girl, but no, to my surprise, as our friends daughter is called Willow, it turned out to be Warwick Davis as the lead hero. I enjoyed this film, it kept my interest and I loved the scenery and back in the day, well, I had a bit of a crush on Joanne Whalley.

Timeless family classic!
This is a review for the 2013 Blu Ray release:For someone who has never seen this movie, it is a great classic. If you enjoy Ron Howard's and/or George Lucas work then you will love this movie. It was directed by Ron H. with the assistance from George L. It has an excellent fantasy story line with great special effects even for it's time. The transfer to Blu Ray was done with very high quality with some added bonus features. It has some deleted scenes (that I have never seen before) with modern day commentary from Ron Howard in 2013. Features also include the original behind the scenes segment from the original release, which shows the quality difference from then to now. I also appreciate the fact that when the movie was transfered to modern day picture and sound quality they did not try to enhance any of the special effects. I feel when studios enhance old movie effects it takes away from the classic feel, and Willow definitely doesn't need it. It's great how it is.For parents with young children, this is a great clean and classic family film. My 9 year old and 5 year old were entertained the whole way through which made it even more enjoyable for me to watch after all these years. There was one part shortly after Willow entered the tavern that caught me off guard and was questionable. But just as it went over my head as a kid the same was true for my kids.So I would recommend this movie to anyone. For those who know this classic well you will enjoy the great Blu Ray quality, and for those who have not seen this film you will enjoy the great new adventure.

You are my sun, my moon, my starlit sky... (bluray)
I've waited a long time for this to come out on blu-ray, and let me say first off that the transfer is absolutely superb. The image quality is crystal clear, and amazingly looks a lot better than a few more recent films I've picked up on bluray (Dredd, anyone?); which is astonishing for a film that's over 25 years old. There were no obvious graining or weird optical effects. The sound quality is good, but feels slightly thin to my mind, however I think this is to do with the original recording. There are 3 deleted scenes that I've never seen before as well (which were quite rightly left out), but were interesting all the same.
