Every installation technician has faced it or soon will - the dreaded humming from the speakers, a telltale sign of a ground loop. Ground loops are caused by voltage potential differences at the ground point on your equipment. Voltages in the range of microvolts up to millivolts or higher can cause ground loops. Ground loops occur when multiple audio/video components are powered from different outlets, most commonly, outlets that are tied to different circuitbreakers or even a different secondary from the power transformer. Ground loops manifest themselves in the form of speaker hum. Our isolation transformer easily connects into your audio/video system and breaks the ground path through cables between components. Start at the component last installed before the ground loop was discovered, and connect the isolation transformer at different ends of the audio/video cable until the ground loop is gone. Gold-plated 3.5mm stereo jacks. Please Note: While this transformer is designed to eliminate ground loops, isolating the source of the ground loop can be very difficult even for professional technicians. Sometimes the problem can be at the last added component or at the furthest from the main system; however, these might only be symptoms of a harder-to-solve problem. Please exercise patience as you work through test scenarios to eliminate your ground loop issue.

Awesome!
I love this thing. I even bought a second one. I used the first one between my home theater receiver in the living room and the audio system in my office. It got rid of all the hum in both systems. I used the second one between a mixer and a DSLR camera to get rid of the hum, because the camera is grounded through the computer that records the video, and the mixer is also grounded, thus causing a ground loop. This transformer isolates the grounds and gets rid of the ground loop. I can drive it at pretty high levels and can't hear any distortion, unlike the cheaper models made for car stereos.

Can't handle RF
This unit arrived without documentation, but it's a simple box and didn't really need any.Unfortunately, while it did minimize the hum problem I bought it for, it is very sensitive to RF, and even caused distortion in other audio circuits on the same ham transmitter. So I can recommend it for those who have no RF fields to contend with. For me, another learning experience, and probably not worth the postage to return..

Works perfectly for me, eliminating the hum on a cheap pair of computer speakers. Seems a bit overpriced, given the simplicity of the electronics (just two audio transformers and 2 jacks, wired up together), but since it works, I can't complain. High quality little metal box, too.

FINALLY! This got rid of my buzzing
Over a year ago I built a house with a multi-zone audio system. Since then, I've been fighting a terrible buzzing noise whenever a computer is hooked into the audio system's inputs. I've tried a few other ground loop isolators, with no result, so I didn't have high hopes for this one...but it works perfectly! My buzzing has finally been silenced! So wonderful to really be able to use our audio system now.

Outstanding, Clear Audio
Kills the audio hum between my Android cellphone's headphone out and the AUX in of my home stereo. The stereo has a USB-out to keep my cell charged, but it also created the worst ground loop noise I've ever encountered. This box fixes the problem 100%. Thanks!

Did not eliminate transformer hum
Did not eliminate the transformer hum on a receiver speaker. It is impossible to determine whether unit is defective or not.

Eliminated ground loop noise
Eliminated my ground loop noise. My unit does appear to be mislabeled as far as which end is the input and output. If I hook it up according to in and out on the label, the audio signal quality is distorted garbage. Flipped it around and it works great.
