No notes, no edits - a perfect product for a Smart Home beginner
I love this. I was trying to connect my whole house using Apple HomeKit, but a blend of old Tuya products my husband had bought, some older smart lightbulbs, and limited automation choices made it hard to go all-in on Apple. The Home Assistant Green is a gamechanger - it sets up nice and quickly out-of-the-box, and while you can get into really technical, code-based automations and settings, so far as a total newcomer to smart homes, I've been able to set up some really great automations. My favorite is that it is compatible with, and reads the status of, my Apple TV - so I've been able to set it so that my lights dim when I start playing a movie, and come back up when I pause, which is such a great use case of a smart home in my opinion. Similarly, when I unlock the front door (smart lock), the interior lights come on, so no more walking into a dark room! The functionality can't be faulted, largely due to the supportive user base - any smart home product that exists, there's a chance somebody has worked out how to connect it. And this device can act as a bridge, to put non-HomeKit devices into HomeKit, so that Siri can control them all and my husband can use Apple Home to control all devices too - including his old Tuya devices. The best part is the speed - when I was using lightbulbs direct to Apple Home over Wifi (with an old HomePod as my 'hub'), it worked slowly, taking several seconds to respond to voice commands or taps in the app. Now, with Home Assistant hard-wired to my router and all devices put through that, no matter whether I use my voice, Apple HomeKit, or the Home Assistant app, everything is much more reliable and almost instant to turn on/off.The box itself is relatively small but built well, it feels sturdy and came well packaged. It was very easy to connect, and came with all the relevant cables.I want to make the review balanced, but I honestly can't think of a single drawback - if I had to, I'd say that I wish it had Bluetooth and Zigbee built in (it has neither), but I got by for months without either and only need them now I'm adding even more smart devices to my house. A dongle for either can be picked up for around $15, and this has a space in the back for both of them, but I'd say that's where the Home Assistant Yellow would have had the edge if I'd been thinking about it. Otherwise though, truly faultless, and an absolute essential piece of Smart Home kit.

Great way to run a locally hosted smart home with minimal hassle.
This is a great way to run a locally hosted smart home with minimal hassle. I know I could build a server, host this on a PC, etc. but for the mostly plug and play crowd, this is the ticket. With minimal configuration, you can start your smart home journey and integrate several different protocols into a single hub and create automations as complex as you desire.I started with a few smart devices but they all required different cloud based services and couldn't integrate with each other. The Home Assistant Green is like that friend who knows everyone and they all get on well. Thanks to it, I have built several automations based on events and time which make living in the house more fun and practical. Got an old style coffee maker you forget to turn off? Have Home Assistant turn it off after you normally leave for work. Want to get fancy? Have Home Assistant detect if you are still in the house, or if you are gone and your car is gone.

Home Assistant RULES!
For many years I have used wi-fi smart home devices and Google Homes, and never dabbled into the beautiful world of home assistant. In my new home, I've finally broken down and switched over to Home Assistant, started to flesh out a Zigbee network, and definitely never turning back now!Device is relatively small, no bigger than a small desktop switch, and is very quiet. Everything worked right out of the box, and has been compatible with every device I've thrown at it. Zigbee2MQTT is a bit clunky, but the native Zigbee plugin for the device is plug n play ready to go.Would recommend this to anywho whos lookin to dabble into the smart home game!

Solid
Before buying this, I used an almost 14y old nettop computer as my Home Assistant server until it completely died recently after a power outage. This small box was built solid and worked well. The only downside is the two USB ports are too close to the power port. I cannot insert both of my zwave and zigbee dongles because they are wider than the standard USB plug. Only the dongle in the top port isn't blocked by the power plug. I have to use a USB 3.0 extension cable for the other one. It works without any problem.

The only way to go
If you want to use Home Assistant. Fully integrated and ready to go. Save time and get one of these rather than sloggiing away building your own. Good value for the money.

Straightforward and reliable
I was running HA in a VM but it was just so much hassle to configure and maintain. My household decided it’s time to simplify. We still wanted HA - local control and long term reliability are critical to us. Buying the official hardware was the clear choice to make it simpler.Everything was easy to set up and HA is running great. No regrets, HA green is a solid choice!

Excellent Choice
Living my Home Assistant journey so far, and the Green is an excellent way to start it. I've read people have 2500 devices run from this baby. It sounds like it starts getting bogged down when processing a bunch of videos feeds, but that seems obvious to me. Very happy with the product and community!

Horrible Software, Horrible System. Waste of Time.
Horrible prodcut horrible interface, not worth wasting time on. Installed this, set it up with a user and password. then tried to log in from a different device with the app installed to interface to the home assisant. does not show username, but the name. Could not find what the user name it used was. Had the password but there was not way to see the username for login. Do some googling nad you have to do bunch of steps and try nad find what account was setuop on it.Complete waste of time, and horrible product and software, This product is great for nerds with no life that want to spend all day trying to figure it out. For the normal person it is garbage and worthless.
