Haven't tried it yet, but can't complain.
I don't have any tempered glass lying around to test it on, and haven't had the opportunity to break any windows, and hopefully I will never have to, but rather then wait for an emergency to leave feedback, I wanted to tell potential buyers a little bit about the product. The Bust-a-Cap looks stylish, but doesn't quite match the glossy-black finish of the Mag-Lite. It's more of a matte-black. Still appealing though. The point used for breaking the tempered glass is not too sharp, so no major safety concern there, other than keep it away from glass. If it works as well as the demo videos lead on, it shatters glass fairly easily. You know the metal spring that sits inside your Mag-Lite cap that pushes against the batteries? It doesn't have that. You have to take the spring out of the other cap, and place it in this one. Same thing goes for the rubber o-ring that seals it. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm just letting you know what you'll need to do when you get it. There isn't any sort of graphite or lubricant on the threads like there is on the stock cap, so to ensure smooth operation, you may want to apply some of your own. Again, not much of a con, just letting you know what to expect. It is a little pricey, but it seems to be a high quality product, I trust it does what they say it does, and it's nice to have peace of mind to have this tool for emergencies.Bottom line: If you're the type of guy or gal who loves your Mag-Lite and the utility it gives you, then you're going to love adding one more thing to the list of stuff it can do. I recommend picking up an LED bulb (if your Mag-Lite isn't already LED) to go with this product to triple the battery life. It's a great combo.

Simple Things Saves Lives
I own many Mag-Lites for many reasons. The bright light that can focus is first, their use as an inconspicuous weapon is the second. In my medical office I trained all my employees in the same tactics as state police. Place the flashlight on your shoulder for light but know how to swing it across to the head and neck, or low to the groin to protect oneself from weirdness. It is a brilliant inconspicuous self defense weapon. I and my loved ones keep them in our cars for the same reasons. But there they have another function. With five or six D-Cell batteries in them, there is plenty of weight for a weapon or to break a window trying to get either in or out of a distressed auto. The problem is that automotive glass is designed to resist blunt impact. Oops. Hitting a car window with a Mag-Lite rear end only creates lots of cracks and no breaks. Look at the U-Tube Video. To break an automotive glass one needs a sharp point on a heavy object. Enter Bust A Cap. It is a simple, well manufactured, effective, addition to any Mag-Lite to add functionality. This can get one out or in of a disabled auto. It can save lives. Don't forget to transfer the O ring, and spare bulb, from your Mag-Lite cap to the bust a cap to maintain the water proofness and spare bulbness of your Mag-Lite. A wonderful addition for any auto or home. Look for more Mag-Lite additions to increase their functionality.Peter M Johns MD

The product fit my 3 cell mag light and appears to be solid and well made. Transferred hardware to cap and attached it to flashlight body.

Pointy!
The end cap is super pointy so it’ll work well with my 6 cell maglite. It does NOT come with the spring that holds the batteries in place or the o-ring that seals the end cap so you’ll need to take those off the old end cap and install them in this end cap. For the price I would’ve liked to see these included. One star deducted for these items not being included.I haven’t had the chance to test the glass breaking function but it’s very pointy and seems like it will do the job well.

Must have!
This item is great. Well made. It looks like a factory option that was made for the maglite. It cone is less aggressive looking in person, but it will no doubt pop a tempered safety window. I ordered 2 of them, one for the maglite in my car, and one for the wife's car. The plan is to not actually attempt to use her mag light, (which is kept in the back by the spare tire) to break her own window out, but to help free someone trapped behind glass- that combined with her automobile fire extinguisher, glow sticks, and few other things, shes got a nice road kit.For use in a home environment, might as well just put it on, I can't see needing this tool in a home where the actually flashlight it's self couldn't break a window, but for how light it is, and how seamless it is, might as well just get it. Augment it with an anti-roll ring on the light, and a bezeled crown for offensive use, and you have a serious flash light. Don't pass this up, it makes a great gift as well.

Know the Size Difference Between the D-Cell/ Rechargable and ML300L/ ML300XLs
Bust A Cap Glass Breaker for Maglite D-Cell Mag / RechargeableI had a bit of a conundrum. I accidentally bought the wrong size for my ML300L, I bought the one for the standard D-Cell instead and only realized my mistake when I found it was a little larger than the flashlight. I still give this a five-star rating because I just so happened to have the correct Maglite that can fit this. I screwed it on that flashlight and it fitted perfectly. I had to take the O-Ring out of the original cap and transfer it to the new one in order to maintain the flashlight's water-resistance properties. Once I got the BAC onto my older flashlight, it was ready to go.Those who want to buy this must remember the size difference between the D-Cell and the ML300s as the former has a slightly larger diameter than the ladder. Don't make the same mistake I did, the manufacturer has both caps available for purchase. I should've paid more attention to the list.

Waste of time and money
Don't waste your time or money. The end cap looks great but it doesn't thread onto the flashlight that it's made for. The threads are coarser than the Maglite threads.
